FISHING PROGRAM
You will be fishing the lakes of
the Blackfeet Indian Nation. This area is the premier monster
Rainbow fishing area of northwest Montana. Rainbows ranging up
to 8 pounds are common. Lone Elk Lodge is located in close
proximity to all the lakes on the reservation. Making it an easy
commute to get on the water.
The majority of the fishing is lake
fishing and is accomplished by using a float tube or a pontoon
boat. A typical week of fishing will offer a variety of fishing
opportunities in which our Blackfeet guides know which lakes are
producing the best fish.
You will be picked up by your guide
each morning and returned each evening. Your guide provides
float tubes and all fishing equipment.
Season
|
From ice out in early April thru Early July
Spot cruising rainbows, and
make long, stalking casts to these big bruisers. Entice
these large trout with small nymphs, leeches, and woolly
buggers. Spring weather can change within an hour from
shirtsleeve calm and balmy to snowy parka and gloves
conditions. Come prepared.
July through September:
Float tubing and casting
damsel nymphs fished sub-surface will fool the actively
feeding trout. Very limited stream fishing is available.
The weather is unpredictable with some gloriously nice
days intermixed with the generally cool and damp ones.
Horse back/fly fishing from a
float tube at a high mountain lake is available; just
ask we can arrange it.
